Everything you need to know

Our Two Day Wilderness Journey is a 2-day, 1-night river trip from Mokai on the upper reaches of the Rangitīkei River to Awastone at Mangaweka.

During the course of the trip we will journey through areas of native forest, farmland and spectacular canyons. There are numerous small rapids, mostly Grade 2.

We will generally have one gear only raft powered by oars and a mixture of rafts and kayaks to suit your group. We carry a pack raft (small inflatable kayak) that can be stashed on the raft if everyone wants to laze the day away on the raft.

You will meet at Awastone, with the option of staying here the night before departure. Here you will meet your guides and be equipped with your river gear. The next morning we will drive north east to the put on point at Mokai.

Our days on the water are lazy days, enjoying the scenic drift and arriving to camp with plenty of time to relax, read a book, fish or take a swim, while your guide and host prepare dinner. The campsite is pretty, comfortable and a great place to relax after getting off the water.

Our journey finishes right outside Awastone, where you can either head off, or stay another night.

Those with certain disabilities and limitations are always welcome, but please let us know if you have any special needs or requirements within your group so that we can work out the best possible experience for you.

Our Multiday Journeys are so much more than just a floating downriver. It is an all-inclusive, immersive adventure, experienced by only a few.
