The Boulders

Whitecilffs Boulders are an eerie Boulder Garden sitting on the banks of the Rangitikei River. Lunching amongst these Boulders midway through a gentle drift down the river is a fantastic way to discover the Rangitikei.
The trip begins right in front of our café and entails a gentle drift down to the Whitecliffs Boulders. Lunch is laid out while you explore the Boulder Garden. Once you have had your fill, of both lunch and the setting, we continue on downstream. We transport you back to the café after your trip for a snack and a cuppa!

Rangitikei Grand Canyon

The jewel of the Rangitikei and featuring locations from Lord of the Rings movies, the Mokai Gorge is a spectacular canyon that is only accessible from the river. We four wheel drive in and out of the gorge and drift quietly through the canyons using our specialist oar rigs. We then drive up river and into the gorge and drift down to a riverside lunch. We transport you back to the café after your trip for a snack and a cuppa!

For those that have undertaken a river holiday before there is no need to be convinced of the attributes that make up the experience.

Hugely popular in some parts of the world but rarely experienced in New Zealand, ironic because of the opportunities we have in this land of rivers, multiday river journeys are a holiday like no other. Using the river as our road and rafts as our transport, we access those hard to get places and carry the luxuries with ease, theres no need to skimp and guests are often amazed at the relative luxury of a rafters campsite.
The Rangitikei River offers up a spectacular set of gorges, again, hard to access except by raft or kayak, and Awastone offers a number of trips to suit your available time and adventurous inclination.

The middle gorges are a world away from the hustle and bustle of life and the best of them are accessible only via river travel. Nestle in round the campfire, enjoy delicious campfire meals and get the kids into the outdoors for the weekend.
