The Grand Canyon of the Rangitikei
Experience the Mokai Gorge as seen in "Lord of the Rings"
This is a journey into the
heart of the spectacular Mokai Gorge. For over a million years
the Rangitikei River has been carving its way through the
soft Sandstone and Papa bedrock to create this 80 metre deep
canyon that is impenetrable except by raft or kayak.
The rafts and gear are transported into the Gorge by 4-wheel
drive while we take a leisurely 15 minute walk through the
native bush. The trip through the Gorges will take about 3
– 4 hours depending on river flows. Lunch is served under
the bridge at the Mokai Gravity Canyon Adventure Park where
we offer options of a ride in the chairlift or a Bungy Jump.
