Halfway between Taupo and Wellington, There is a famous DC3 aeroplane hanging over SH1.
ZK APK has many faces over the years. First landing in Mangaweka in 1986, she had the colours of her previous top dressing job. Then in early 2000, she was painted with cookies, long holding the fun name of "The Cookietime Plane". Most recently it has been our attempt to give her back some dignity sporting the NAC style.
The DC3 experience is a slow moving project, but a project we want to do the right way. Come in and enjoy what she once was at different stages of her life, from a military place to top dressing plane. Photos on display.
Sorry, no eating in the plane or cockpit visits any longer. We are trying to preserve this amazing icon that has lasted over 25 years in Mangaweka.
